Crown

Luxury, opulence, show. Too much is never enough. We thought that preciousness should be increased. Materialism needed new grounds!

Ok, it was created for the Victoria & Albert Museum, to coincide with the re-opening of the refurbished Jewellery Gallery.

Ok, it was inspired by Queen Victoria’s sapphire and diamond coronet (on permanent display as the centrepiece of the William and Judith Bollinger room).

Ok. But what pushed us was the idea of splendour!

Preciousness is something serious and our "delusions of grandeur" had to be carefully considered: thinking that sapphires and diamonds were not enough, we considered all the wasteful and ephemeral elements we could add to these jewels.

At last we found the most wasteful and ephemeral one: sense of humour. The gemstone shapes of this collection are cast in colourful semi-soft resin.
